Time for a change?

A national charity, one whose representatives are regularly seen collecting at shopping malls and outside cafes throughout Australia, collected a total of $4,398,756 in fundraising revenue in 2009. So called "face to face" collection represented $3,594,061 of this amount, or nearly 82% of this total. The cost of collecting this revenue - presumably including commission payments to their representatives - was $2,037,103 or 57% of this balance. Charity's tend to regard any marginal income as income nontheless, but how many in the Australian public recognise that less than 50% of their donation makes it to the charity. And this is before the money is distributed and the charity's administration costs are considered ....
